Having a Heart to Serve Others

Warm days are here how wonderful is that! Knowing spring is right here already, the gardens begin, the planting flowers are beginning isn’t it so wonderful? My girls are excited to have our
first small garden, although I am unsure how this will turn out but I am very much excited to see also!

So it is week 3 in Finding Joy! I hope the past 2 weeks you have enjoyed, applied it daily and understood it, we only have 1 more week left can you believe it?! You know Joy is a wonderful gift to those who belong to Jesus. We belong to him so lets begin to take that Joy and apply it to us and spread it to others.

Serving Others… Oh how wonderful it sounds… or does it?

When you hear serving others, what comes to your mind?

Lets grab our journals, bible, pen and highlighter and lets begin this lesson!

  • When you hear Serving Others what do you think it may be?
  • Would you have a cheerful heart when serving others?
  • Do you see serving others as a duty or something that you would enjoy to do?
  • Have you ever served others with a cheerful attitude?

Be honest with your answers, after all these answers are for you only no one else’s eyes (unless you decide to share) but never be ashamed with your answers, being honest and truthful to yourself is the best way to go!

Here is Today’s verse for this lesson:

“So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,” –Philippians 2:1-5

In order for us to Find and Have Joy we must have obedience. Follow and obey in Christ Jesus. Read each sentence and look up every word you see.

Lets look at these words together than you can search the other words: participation, conceit and humility.

Participation: Involving, a part of

Conceit: Pride in oneself, self-admiring

Humility: courteous, respectful of others in the bible this is meaning putting others first before yourself.

We must not be selfish, instead have the mindset as Christ, have his joy, see them the way Christ sees them. Love on them the way he loves on them and you. Serving others means helping others, volunteering, serving at the Church, even when your working don’t see it as working for someone, look at it as serving and working for The Lord. Colossians 3:23.

When we begin to serve others, help others, volunteer you begin to feel this wonderful sensation inside, this comfort and peace THIS JOY! You feel warm and bright within yourself, and this is when change begins to happen and you wont even see it yet. Its so wonderful, so fulfilling you begin to become hungry for The Lord, wanting more, and that’s the way to go. When serving others your serving the Lord, you than will get rewards from the Lord. Never serve with a selfish heart, or a selfish need, instead pray and ask the Lord to help you serve with a cheerful and joyful heart.

Today’s Prayer: “Lord I ask you to come into my heart and take whatever that is not of you, I want to follow you and be filled with your joy. Help me to serve others with a cheerful heart, with a joyful heart, and with your love. Whom shall I help today? Help me to help others without being disobedient. I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.”
