Thursday, closer to the end of Spring Break for us. Oh how we have enjoyed this adventurous week! From hot to warm, sunny and now to cloudy. Planting plants and sight seeing, the very small things you enjoy the most of. Sitting here, seeing the clouds cover the sky my plants growing, my girls enjoying waking up a little late and me enjoying my Ningxia Red drink. Peaceful morning it is.
Today is Day 2 of Week 3 in Finding Joy. Next week is the last week, can you believe it? I have enjoyed doing this bible study with each and every one of you, I hope you have enjoyed it also. Our lesson for today, Thankfulness. Being thankful. Grab your bible, pen, highlighter and journal so we can begin! 🙂
- Have you ever been grateful or thankful?
- What situation were you in recently, and were you thankful?
- Have you thanked God for the storms?
- How are your prayers (small, long, prayers that scare you)?
Most of the time when we face a difficult situation we aren’t very thankful. How can we when something isn’t going our way? Maybe we just don’t thank god enough instead we keep on asking for more blessings and never “Thank You Father for….” We should always be thankful as it is said ” 16Rejoice always, 17pray continually, 18give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. Lets look at this again, Rejoice always… it doesn’t say rejoice sometimes it says always, meaning EVERY TIME. Pray continually… meaning constantly, frequently, repeatedly. Also notice in verse 18 it says gives thanks in ALL circumstances. It doesn’t say in some circumstances it says ALL circumstances regardless of the circumstance. In order for joy to fulfill us, to stay in us, we must learn to be thankful and grateful.
“Give thanks to the LORD for he is good, his love endures forever.” Psalm 136:1
We should give thanks to him daily because his love is forever, he is good to us. Joy will fill our spirit if we learn to be thankful in all circumstances. It may be a little difficult but remember the lesson I taught, Retrain your minds into Gods Truth. We must not see the situation or circumstance as a bad one, instead pray and thank god because the door that is opened is much bigger and better than ours. When we overflow with thankfulness we begin to overflow with JOY!
Being grateful for where you are at and what you have leads to thankfulness which leads to…. can you guess…. YES…. JOY!!! We all need joy in our lives, joy is beautiful!
Have you ever been thankful in your circumstances? Let’s be honest here I was not thankful instead I was always seeing situations as the worst, but when I began to read His truth, dig deeper, connect with Him I began to see beyond the small situation or circumstance. When you focus on Him and NOT your situation/circumstance you will see the goodness he brings out of it. Here is a little exercise i would love for you all to do. When you happen to come across a situation pray continually, see beyond that small situation, and be thankful because God is good, his love is forever and when that small situation is over you will see the plan God had for you.
Being thankful in this day and age is pretty difficult, people always want others things, chasing after earthly items its temporary stuff they seek for. Instead we must learn to be thankful for where God has put us, he has a plan that you can’t see just yet. God has the box top to the puzzle piece he sees how it is all laid out, while we grab one piece at a time and put it together. Today’s lesson is learning to be thankful in ALL circumstances, when we begin to be thankful we become grateful and when we become grateful we begin to carry HIS fulfilling JOY!
I would love for you to search in the bible, Thankfulness, see how many verses come up. Search those verses, study those verses and ask The Lord how you can become more thankful.
Prayer for Today: “Lord forgive me for not being thankful enough, although I do know i should be but I haven’t been. Help me to be thankful in all circumstances help me to understand your truth your promise for me and help me to stay focused on you during my circumstances I face and will face. Help me to not see it as a disaster instead help me to see it as growing in you. Thank you for your love towards me, thank you for never giving up on me and continually showing me the right way. In Jesus Name, Amen.”
