Hi there! It sure has been a while since I blogged. I been MIA lately, mainly because I needed a refresh. I needed quite time. I needed to step away from social media & just learn to rest in Him. Although I am not quite where I want to be, but I am a step closer to where I need to be. As I sit here next to my computer to blog I can’t help but say… what in the world is wrong with this heat? I mean, a pregnant mama on hot days, summer days at that, is so not fun. It makes it 1000 degrees more hot than what it is. Okay! Maybe not that hot but you get the point. Super hot here in Texas! It calls for a nice White Peach Tea Lemonade from chick-fil-a. Ya’ll if you have not tried that drink yet, you definitely need too! So refreshing and cooling.
Last week my mom took my two older kids while me and the little one stayed. Do you know how hard it was to let them go? I wanted to tag along too! But my mom insisted for me to get a break before the new one comes along. 4 kids! Gosh. I never imagined myself with 4 kids, even though I always said I wanted 6 kids ha! Not far from it now. But really, whats a mom to do without her kids? I may have our youngest one with me but it still gets quiet. I decided to step away from social media, organize the girls rooms since they won’t be here crying to not throw this or that out and enjoy the quietness. I was able to organize and clean what I needed. Oh how I miss them dearly, but what I am learning is to ask for help when I need it. I’m one to never ask for help than later end up stressed. Why do I do that to myself? Heck I have no clue. But I was once told “when you get offered help, take it!”
Dear mamas & expecting mama’s, go out! Go refresh yourself. Whether its for an hour or more. Grab a tea, a ice water, a lunch all to yourself, maybe even a relaxing mani… go! Because that baby, that precious baby that your body is creating and being knitted by our wonderful Father, we need it. It feels so good to refresh yourself. To focus on yourself for once and pamper yourself. Whether its grabbing your favorite cup of coffee and a book to read, or having a friend come watch the other kiddos while you go out alone to breathe in that fresh air.. go do it. We sometimes forget who we are once we become a mom. We forget ourselves. We lack nutrition, we lack sleep, we lack showers (admit it ya’ll I know I can’t be the only one who tries so hard to shower but by the time everyone showers, tucks the kids in bed, picks up the toys, puts up the dishes, etc, your just exhausted and decide to lay down to sleep instead). We are not “just a mom” or “just a wife” we are so much more than that. This is what the Lord is showing me in this time alone. To find myself again and find him in this stillness. Yes its so wonderful being a mom, a wife, a sister, a friend but what about us? Have you ever asked yourself “who am I besides the job role or mom role or wife role that I am?” Gosh thats such a powerful question. Really, it is!
Friend, do me a favor. Scratch that, do yourself a favor, go to the mirror and look at yourself. Ask yourself, “who am I besides a mom, wife, friend, sister, lawyer, doctor, ______you fill in the blank.” Take a few days and think on it, pray about it, ask the Lord to reveal to you who you truly are. Its so wonderful to see we are MORE than what we think of ourselves. We should think highly of ourselves. Not to be conceited, heavens no! But to be confident in what the Lord says of who we are! I am brave, I am bold, I am loved, I am created with a purpose, I am genuine and loving, I am forgetful at things but I know how to love with extended grace. There is so much the Lord has told me I had to write it down. Be sure to have a journal, a sticky pad, a pen, or whatever you can find to write it because when he speaks, he will tell you exactly who you are! Write it down and keep it handy to always refer back to it. Its so wonderful, refreshing and beautiful to reflect back on what we wrote down of what He says. Trust me. You will want to write it down.
NEVER LOSE SIGHT OF YOU!
NEVER FORGET WHAT THE LORD SAYS ABOUT WHO YOU ARE.
